Demo-Versions (ver. 12.56)
The Papyrus Demo Version has a few minor limitations (see below), but still allows you to give the software a thorough checkout before you decide to buy.
However, since our full-feature demo has no pre-programmed "time"
restrictions, we must ask you to be fair: the demo
version is for testing only, not for regular use! If you like
our software, and continue to use it, please purchase a full license.
This page includes download links for the Papyrus OFFICE 12.5 Demo Version
for Microsoft Windows (98 up to XP/Vista) and Apple Mac OS X (Panther and Tiger, incl. Intel Macs).
You may also register for Papyrus Newsletters via e-mail,
to receive future information about new releases and features in Papyrus.
Your personal data will always be kept strictly confidential, of course!
- The Papyrus OFFICE 12.5 Demo for Windows (98 - XP/Vista) is
a self-extracting ZIP-Archive (approx. 5 MB). Download the file and save it in a temporary directory (folder).
Double-click on the downloaded EXE-file and the setup-files will be created in that directory.
Then start the setup program by double-clicking on SETUP.EXE, you can then specify where
the Papyrus-software should be installed.
- The setup program will register the file type "*.PAP" and put a Papyrus-Icon in the Start-Menu.
The Demo also contains an icon for "un-install", which may be used to completely remove
the demo (as well as the start-icon and the registered file-type) from your computer.
- The Papyrus OFFICE 12.5 Demo for Mac OS X
is a DMG Archive (approx. 9 MB). When unpacked, the DMG will normally behave as a
mounted drive, from which you can move the "Papyrus Demo" folder to any location you want.
- The Papyrus Mac-Demo runs under Mac OS 10.3.x (Panther) and OS 10.4.x (Tiger).
NOTE: Papyrus currently requires at least Mac OS X version 10.3.x, because older Mac OS X versions lack
support for Universal Binaries, which were required to support Mac OS X 10.4.x.
If you are still interested in support for Mac OS X 10.2.x, or Mac OS 9, please tell us right away,
so that we can estimate demand for these older OS versions.
- Papyrus 12 is offered in two versions:
The first runs natively on Intel Macs as well as on classic PowerPC Macs (PPC),
a so-called "Universal Binary" compilation or (in short form) "UniBin").
The UniBin-version contains native program code for both types of processors in one program.
This makes the Papyrus 12 UniBin a bit larger than a native PPC compilation.
So if you own a classic PPC Mac, you can save some disk space (about 2 MB),
and download the PPC version of Papyrus 12.
The versions are both functionally identical, and you may switch between
the PPC and UniBin versions at any time you want.
- Please note that Papyrus Mac is undergoing intensive development,
which is reflected both in the demo version, as well as in the free updates
regularly sent to our registered customers. You can register for the Newsletter
on our Contact-Page to receive regular news about new developments and
features in Papyrus.
Papyrus 12.5 (12.56) for Mac OS X is
available for download here (file Pap_12_5e_UniBin.dmg - just click on the link to start the download).
This is a Universal Binary version which runs natively on Apple Macintosh computers with both Intel processors or
on systems with PowerPC (PPC) CPUs. The file size is about 10 MB.
There is also version just for PPC Macs available for download here
(file Pap_12_5e_PPC.dmg). For PPC Macs, this saves some RAM and hard disk space,
being a couple of megabytes smaller than the Universal Binary version,
but this version runs on Intel Macs only under emulation). The file size is about 8 MB.
You may switch betweeen the Intel/Universal Binary version and the PPC version whenever you want:
simply return to this Papyrus 12 customer download page to download whatever version you want.
The minor limitations in the Papyrus Demo Version are as follows:
- Printing is limited to single page documents.
- When printing, the Papyrus Demo will occasionally exchange letters of equivalent width
(for example, "c"&"e"
or "b"&"d").
- Due to space limitations and licensing restrictions, the full-sized
dictionaries used by our innovative and
often-imitated "IntelliView" spell-checker are not
available in the demo version.
- It should go without saying that Papyrus does not install anything
in any System.INI-File or pull any similar "dirty tricks" with the registry,
you may use "un-install" (or the Windows Control Panel)
to completely remove the entire program at any time.
- To be fair, you should not use the demo version excessively
(not longer than four weeks). After that, please purchase the full version.
- The demo version comes complete with the online help system, permitting you
to learn about and test all portions of the software.
- Further distribution of the Papyrus Demo Versions offered here is
expressly allowed and requested
(although in unaltered form only, please!), this includes
CDs, Bulletin-Boards (BBS), and internet link-addresses (URLs), as long
as the distribution charge is not more than $1 (one US-Dollar) or 1€ (one Euro).
The only condition: before you make the Papyrus Demo available, please
send us a short note (preferably via e-mail), so that we can let you know
when a new version becomes available. In addition, you must agree
(on notification from us) to replace or delete the copy you offer.
