What is Papyrus ViEW?
Papyrus ViEW is a copyrighted freeware program to display and print all Papyrus OFFICE document and database reports files. In addition, Papyrus ViEW can display and print files in RTF, MS-Word*, and WordPerfect* documents, as well as dBase* and ASCII database formats.
With Papyrus ViEW, you can distribute your documents directly in Papyrus-Format. Papyrus ViEW is free, and makes it possible for any user to read and print the Papyrus files that you send. You can even generate reports from Papyrus OFFICE databases and print them (as long as the database includes prepared templates).
Who can use Papyrus ViEW?
Papyrus ViEW is for anyone who needs to view or print Papyrus files, but doesn't need
(or want) to purchase a full Papyrus license. This can include you, your customers, colleagues,
friends, acquaintences: anyone with whom you would like to share documents.
How does Papyrus ViEW work?
It's very easy:
- Install Papyrus ViEW, or just copy the executable version to a suitable location.
- Start Papyrus ViEW, and you can display (and print) any document created with Papyrus (to be precise, this applies to documents created with any recent version of Papyrus, in other words, version 9.23 or later). Papyrus ViEW works just like Papyrus OFFICE: your documents appear (and print) exactly as they would with the full version.

Papyrus ViEW is free, although Copyright ©* is still retained by R.O.M. logicware GmbH. You are free to distribute Papyrus ViEW privately to anyone you wish. We also have no objection to public distribution (on internet homepages or CD collections), but please contact us (via e-mail) before proceeding with a public distribution.

Downloading and Installing Papyrus ViEW
Actually, Papyrus ViEW doesn't need to be "installed": you can use the executable (.EXE) files exactly as you receive them. This also applies to the full version of Papyrus OFFICE. The "installation" merely creates registry entries (for file associations), so that Papyrus files can be opened directly (with a double-click of the mouse).
For this reason, we offer Papyrus ViEW in two versions: as a "naked" (executable) archive containing just the files required to run Papyrus ViEW, or as an "installable" archive.

The file Pap_ViEW_Install.exe is a self-extracting ZIP-archive which (when unpacked) creates the files used to install Papyrus ViEW. Download the file, save it in a temporary directory (folder) on your hard disk, and unpack it with your favorite archiver. Then start the installation process by double-clicking on SETUP.EXE, which installs Papyrus ViEW to the path that you select, and creates a start icon and Windows registry entries for Papyrus file-types. It's that simple.

Papyrus ViEW in "naked" executable form
The file Pap_ViEW_Folder.exe is a self-extracting ZIP-archive which (when unpacked) creates a directory called "Pap_ViEW". This folder contains a complete, executable version of Papyrus ViEW. Unpack the downloaded file with your favorite archiver. You can now display (and print) Papyrus files by starting "Pap_ViEW.exe", or by "dragging & dropping" Papyrus files onto "Pap_ViEW.exe". If you want to be able to open Papyrus files (*.PAP) with a double-click, use the "open with..." function (choosing "other..."), and select Papyrus ViEW as the application to be used. Make sure the checkbox "always use this program for this file type" is selected, and this will associate *.PAP files with Papyrus ViEW.
